Guys, you are losing site of the scope of this project. I hate to beat a dead horse, but this is a HOME/FUN project. Telling someone to spend $20k-$50k on enterprise hardware for increased reliability for home use is insane.


I have basically adopted "Internet is my backup" for my non essential files. The rest is on cloud backup, encrypted first.

Yep. I do local backups every night except in my largest content - movies. Those are backed up to the cloud along with everything else (except my VMs, which are backed up locally only). I also have archival drives to keep movie copies on as well.

I don't bother to keep movie copies...like I said, the internet is my backup.
