DIY power bar

I found the solution to messy cabling under the computer desk. A 16 outlet split power bar so you can easily manage UPS and non UPS protected items with one single power bar.

Capacity for 15 amps per side (if plugged into two separate circuits obviously)

You could probably add switches to it too, to be able to turn off unneeded items.

Yeah did it myself. The internals is "to code" as in, the way it would be done if it was in a wall. properly grounded metal boxes, #14 romex wire etc. The cords are #12 with 15 amp plugs. The rest is all wood and painted over. The markings are simply printed paper glued on, which actually turned out decent.

I thought of adding switches too, but for my situation I did not need any, but I plan to build more of these in the future fit for other needs such as my PC repair workbench... I'm always bending down to plug/unplug stuff, so I'd make it built into the desk. I could see switches very handy in this situation to quickly turn something on/off such as a solder iron or a test subject.

I saw a power bar for around $15 at Big Lots that was pretty nice. It was a single row of around 10 plugs evenly spaced in a 4' long aluminum bar.
