Pretty cool. We have a commercial one here at work, and it's pretty amazing to see in action.

Alas....

The current cost of all the materials as ordered from the current list of vendors is about US$2500

Too rich for my blood.

Nice! I've been looking at DIY CNC machines lately. LumenLabs actually has a lot of info on them:

You can build a big one for about $1,300, a crazy-ridiculous price for a CNC machine. Since I want to custom-build my own home someday, this would be an excellent tool for cutting custom deco, furniture, etc. Here's a good thread with pics:
