I'm beginning to tire of Dixie hosting my site. Some unresolved email issues have frustated me to the point where I should at least look elsewhere.
Who is da man these days?

Dathorn.com

Dixiesys is great. If you're having a problem with them get on their IRC Server and talk to support there. THey'll be glad to help you. I just got a dathorn accoutn b/c the price can't be beaten. But I still have my dixiesys acount too.

If you don't know about IRC....it's simple to get to dixiesys's server.

Just download Mirc @ www.mirc.com, and go to settings, and put in a nickname for yourself.

Then in the main window, type /server irc.dixiesys.com

after that you'll get a few messeages in the window...and then type /j #help

ask your question in there, and someone will respond. It's run by their admins. I hd a billing problem today and it was resolved by a guy there in less then 12 minutes. ( I timed it).

BTW---you do know that they recently got hacked on two of their plesk servers? I didn't but a guy said they got hit by a large hacker group and a anti-war group. But thery're locked up tight now---and are backup and running according to him.

Dixie was terrific at one time. I have been going back and forth with support for two days now. For the time being they are pointing their finger at Comcast as the culprit. Comcast, of course, says it's Dixie.

Well, they just moved all of their servers less then a month ago.....so they're probably just experiencing a couple of hiccups. If dixie could compete w/ dathorn for prices I'd have stayed w/ them....but they can't.

But, I gotta give credit to Dixie's tech support. IMO, Top Notch.

I'm looking at both and it seems to me Dixie is less expensive.

Dathorn.com!!!

and they're taking signups since they got a new server up. Andrew is the best and has the best support evar! the tickets ive had to create (just minor nuiances) were answered in under 10 min (no guarentee, but he's quick with the support tickets).

and cPanel/WHM rocks.. i cant wait till May when we get bluetrix with the auto-installers.. :D

im a dixiesys convert btw. even though i'm paying more (i was in on the $39.95/yr plan during the 2 for 1 last july 400megs/6GB bandwidth), it is well worth it imo. you basically have total control over everything. unlimited domains (im gonna be hosting a few of my friends sites), the datacenter is located at the highly regarded theplanet.com.. i only have good things to say about dathorn. :)

Rossman, where are you? :p

Yeah, I hear ya Carbo. We must be on the same server, because I'm having email issues as well.

I use Total Choice Hosting (Plans) for all my needs.

For $55 a year I get 500 mb, 10 GB transfer, and all kinds of other stuff. I have had NO trouble and they have EXCELLENT tech support. Then have a guy who's almost always on yahoo messenger that I can ask questions to :) Never had something he couldn't help with. I have multiple MySQL databases set up, and everything works great.

Check em out.

My needs are basic. I run a small business site, with a forum board. I need have 99.8% uptime, reliable email service, and perhaps most important, site speed. It's a competitive world out there. If my site is dragging, I'm losing customers.
de9ali, I'm on Ensim 5, by the way.

dathorn does reseller plans only. even at the old prices (shared hosting plans), if you compare resources, dathorn is cheaper. and no need to look at the reseller plans. dathorn is a win win situation. if you're worried about the price, get a few friends and split the cost.. you wont regret it. :)

edit: btw, Andrew is the man. if you dont believe me, ask Rossman.. why else would i go with Dathorn. a thread was posted in HD. at first, i wasnt considering switching, and just sticking with dixiesys, but after hearing all the good things dathorn had to offer, and the high praise rossman had for the company, i decided to take the plunge.

i was on Ensim 5 btw. i dont know if it's location or not, but my ping times at dathorn are great. around 50ms all the time while dixiesys was ~70-80ms though at times was inconsistent.
