And they seriously think that what they make and sell is really country music? I think the real category is called, "pop drivel."

From our friends at IMDB:
Dixie Chicks To Shun Country Music?
The Dixie Chicks have indicated they want to sever ties with country music, after the backlash they suffered earlier this year. During an interview with German magazine Spiegel, group member Martie Maguire expressed how she and bandmates Natalie Maines and Emily Robison feel detached from the whole scene. She says, "We don't feel part of the country scene any longer, it can't be our home any more." Their main grievance is based on the lack of support shown to the trio during the backlash of Maines' comments against American president George W. Bush earlier this year. Maguire adds, "A few weeks ago, Merle Haggard said a couple of nice words about us, but that was it. The support we got came from others, like Bruce Springsteen." Maguire also points to the fact that country radio is still not playing the trio's music, and that country award shows have seemingly shut the door on them. She notes, "Instead, we won three Grammys against much stronger competition. So we now consider ourselves part of the big rock'n' roll family."

It's not so much the comments they made, although I thought they were pretty tasteless. It was the way the two-bit whores came crawling back on their knees to the public claiming they were misunderstood after realizing that free speech does not mean speech without consequence.

:brokenheart:

boo hoo

Seems everyone understands they have the right to say whatever they want to say in this country.

Seems no everyone fully understands that everyone else has the right to hate your guts for what you say.

Oh but its all about the music for them right?

I don't enjoy their music, but the fact that everyone condemned them just because they said something about our president is funny. I guess celeberities need to watch what they say to protect themselves from the generally stupid public.

No, they just need to be aware that freedom of speach runs both ways.

Just 'cuz they're celebs doesn't mean I've got any interest in whay they have to say. In fact, I've probably got LESS interest in their thoughts because they're celebs.

is it popular to hate them these days? I'm not good at keeping up with trends.

So they are mad because country music artists formed their own opinions and used their freedom of speech to not support the Dixie Chicks who received public backlash due to comments made expressing their opinions while exercising their freedom of speech?
