If you're suspicious, run Ad-Aware. Run it, install DivX 5 and then run Ad-Aware again.

The Pro. version indeed has spyware. I would recommend getting the freeware version.

it does have gator which they force you to install...if you refuse to install the gator software then the installation aborts.

if you try to uninstall it or disable it then windows might not work properly

if anyone has gotten rid of this and is still able to play divx format please tell me how.

TIA

There is a way around it involving a registry hack, I think, and the placement of a dummy DLL file. Somebody should be able to provide a link.

Installed it, ran Ad-Aware, removed the spyware, everything works fine. Win XP Pro on a ThinkPad A21p.
