Installed media player 7 and the divx 3.11 codec and when I select a 15 mb chunk of a divx movie I get media is unrecognized format.
Anybody got a step by step
Where did i go wrong?
Thanks

How do you mean chunk? Divx may not play an incomplete file.

Go into control panel/multimdedia devices and look there for the tab that shows which codecs are installed. Did you run the 'run me first exe' that appears after your install the codec?

Sorry, this is a little garbled, i'm running out the door. Will be back in 45 mins

If you mean you downloaded a 15 chunk of a divx file, your problem is avis don't work unless they are complete. Ditch Media Player 7, it sucks, but it should work fine. VirtualDub can play partial DivX files, get it and a lot more info at www.ddigest.com

I think if it says unrecognized, then you might not have the latest divx codec installed. Try look around the internet for the newest one.

Yeah I think you guys got it right.
When I go to goddabuzz I just grabbed one of the 20+ movie chunks for a single movie. So I have to dl them all? I was just trying one cause I thought it just might reference a scene like a dvd movie does and I could just play a "scene" to try it out. I had to get off the PC last night thunder storm rolled through but I'll try a whole movie once I get home from work
Thanks

Yeah, you have to use Virtual Dub and rekey the whole movie...I think that's what it's called. Anyway, lemme recommend you go back to Media Player 6, it's much better for DivX playing.

If it's a rar file, then you need to download all the files. Cause they won't work if one is missing. You can't just extract a small piece of the movie.

Yah I think I noticed that when I tried winrar it would ask for the next consecutive file before it'd expand the one I was trying to.
Hardly seems worth spending hrs to dl a movie when I can rent it for < $5 on DVD . I was kinda hoping to just get scenes to preview a movie.

There is a divx fixing program also that fixes it so you can watch it. It's on the download section of Digital Digest.
