Will an IBM thinkpad with a pentium 233mhz w/mmx processor be able to play divx movies?

All depends on the resolution of the files. 320 X 240 shouldn't be a problem, but I wouldn't expect anything more than that.

I'll try it on my 300mhz thinkpad when I get home, it should give you a good indication.

It has 64 megs of ram...I haven't received it yet...but I might upgrade it to 128. I had a laptop that was 166mmx and they didnt run at all (well...it was delayed)

I played Divx movies on a PII-266 with 64mb ram, @ 800x600 16bit. It would play fine, but it would get choppy in fast action clips.

Pretty horrible for me. Barely watchable...
300mhz, 96mb ram... I'm thinking the slow harddrives are the bottlenecks in watching DIVX.

you MIGHT be able to if you grab the 4.01 Codec and use "The Playa" as your program, with that program and codec I can play 3 Divx movie's on my computer at one time (P3 850)

Just installed DIVX 4.02 on the 300mhz laptop, it's playing my 320x240 (tv show) DivX files perfectly.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably try watching them in 640 resolution.

My dads P2-266 Laptop does DivX reasonably well. A bit choppy in scenes with alot of motion but otherwise OK.
