DivX files not playing correctly in WMP10

I encode all my DVD's to DivX (using Dr. Divx 1.06) so I can play them on my laptop while traveling. The videos playback fine on the laptop with WMP10 using High Quality mode, but are not playing back on my main rig, where they were created. the DivX files playback in black and white, and the top half appears to have the bottom half of the video superimposed in green with red blocks. The DivX files will playback OK if I go to WMP10's 'Tools' > Performance > Video acceleration settings 'Advanced' and select 'Use Overlays' instead of 'Use High Quality Mode'. However, if I do that, then I have to switch it back every time I want to watch a WMV-HD clip which is rather annoying.

I've searched the forums here and found similar things happening to people using nVidia Forceware 77.72 (resetting gamma for 'All'), but that happened to ALL video files, not just DivX. I've tried different nVidia drivers and DivX codecs but nothing's fixed it. DivX support site said to check for older FFDShow and XviD codecs, but their search tools didn't find any on my system. The other thing is that this was working fine until after I installed the WMV-HD patch. I don't want to uninstall the patch because then I can't HW accelerate the WMV-HD files.

Any suggestions? My system specs are in my sig, but for convenience, the GPU is 2x 6600GT's in SLI. I've tried disabling SLI (BIOS and nVidia CP) and the issue persists, so I don't think that's an issue. Thanks for any help you can give!

Screenshots:
WMP10 & nVidia CP settings, w/sample video (1280x1024): Settings
Codec Info Tool results: Codec
DivX Capture 1
DivX Capture 2

Cliffs:
1. DivX playback messed up on PC; OK on laptop
2. Not gamma settings / driver / codec / SLI related (best I can tell)
3. WMV-HD patch related?
4. ...
5. Profit?

EDIT: Formatting and clarity.

I don't know if your video problems are related to the infamous video overlay/gamma issues with nVIDIA's latest driver release, but if so here is the solution to that issue:

With this method I was able to fix the video issues that were driving me crazy.

Yeah, that's been posted a lot here but unfortunately doesn't fix my issue. Thanks, though

i had the same problem ever since the wmp10 update was installed a month or so back... you can ifx it by just using OVERLAY mode

Doesn't using overlay mode disable PureVideo? I thought the 'High Quality Mode' or VMR Mode had to be enabled for DXVA hardware WMV-HD acceleration. It's a bit of a PITA to have to keep switching that off and on each time I play a DivX movie.

Yes, the WMV HD patch breaks some other codecs when put in VMR9 mode. Happens to me too. Just the way it is... and this isn't related to the gamma problem in those ForceWare drivers. Do try ffdshow for decoding DivX. I'll do some tests in a little bit.
