Hi all,

I'm just wondering if this encoding speed seems low to you all- encoding a test 2Gb Star Trek .vob file in XMpeg 4.5 (and the latest release of v5 too), using default parameters and 1-pass encoding, 720x576, light psychovisual, no "Pro" features on, don't process audio.
Encoding fps usually stay around the 28-32fps mark, hardly ever higher. I'm using YUV12 mode, and running an AMD 3000+ with 512Mb PC2700- surely this should be higher?

BTW, XMpeg 5.x seems about 5-10fps faster than 4.5.

If someone could shed some light on this I'd be grateful :)

Mine, at the speed in my profile, does about 40-45 fps, 720x480, 2 passes, with 5.0.4 (and that's with running my RAM a-sync... RAM @ 166 and FSB @ 221)

So unless 5.0.5 slows things down a lot, then yes, I'd say your's is a little slow for some reason.

By the way, I use Gordian Knot.
