DivX encoding problem with virtual dub. can't fast foward encoded video without sync errors?

I've been trying to encode my mpeg1 files created by powervcr 2. i use virtual dub with divx 4.02 and divx audio 44khz at 64kbs. the file seems to encode without errors, but if i try skipping ahead during playback audio never syncs again. audio interleaving is at default, which i thought was supposed to help keep things synced🙁 guess not.

reason i don't use flask or xmpeg is they seem to get stuck on the first frame of video during encoding and end up with an audio only
