Divorce and 50-50 split of assets; Re: Jeff Gordon's divorce

I was reading an article on Jeff Gordan's divorce and they were talking about under Florida law, everything gets split 50-50.

Sonofaf*&kinbitch! This dude is out bustin' his ass racing around at 200MPH and after 7 years she gets HALF?????????????????????????? HALF?????????

Grrr, what do you guys think? And how would you feel if your wife walked away with half of your sh!t (and I know that some of you have already gotten taken to the cleaners).

Yup, financially and with child custody. My uncle who is a phd lost his two sons to his ex who was certifiably insane, in trouble about writing hot checks out of her account, and jobless.

Yeah, if you both brought 50/50 or close to that in financial support. Then I would have no problems giving up half. But if I'm bringing in 100% of the income, I'd be like, "Bitch, get da f*&k out my face"

she should get half of what he made while married. she should NOT get half of what he had before or what he makes after. that means no alimony

if you have a lot of money get a pre-nupe.

ths system is so fvcked up... that pig Anna Nicole Smith was awarded by a judge 243 million bucks!!, wtf is up with that sh1t, you know the system is wrong when you see sh1t like that.

on a side note, what also pisses me off, is the whole deal of the child support payments, and how they work, the rule is "The wife/child has to be supported in the lifestyle they were used to" so these guys have to continue to pay millions to them, in child support even after they have lost half there house, car, and other sh1t.. what burns me the most is the Child gets practically none of that, and the mother just spends the child support money.. what child needs 100,000 a month to live....

if they wanted the money to go to the child it should be locked up in a trust fund somehow, that would have some justification.

I'm pretty sure a prenup only protects the assests you had before you entered the marriage. So if you're worth $10 million after you were married, you're most likely going to have to give some of it up.

50/50 seems like a lot considering there was no children. I could see raising a family being worth it, but I'm sure her life was super easy. I highly doubt they didn't have a housekeeper, chef or other stuff like that...
