Just wondering if anyone has had any experiences where they felt sure God stepped in to help in some unexplainable way?

Did it change you're life and how?

No, but I can recall several instances in which God stepped in to make life difficult.

I'm pretty darn sure God sits around giggling while doing goofy things with my life when he gets bored, that count as "divine intervention"????

I was kind of thinking along the lines of more inspirational accounts but I sure can identify with where you're coming from.

i used to have a cartoon above my desk explaining the "Big Bang" theory. It showed God with the beard, white hair and flowing robe about to pop a paper bag. The thought balloon said; "Well this should be fun."

Kind of explains things pretty well.

LOL @ the cartoon, Fathom, but I really wasn't kidding...much. And who says God goofing around with 'em isn't inspirational?????? I have a great relationship with God, we have a lot of fun together. I don't always get his jokes though. :) Sometimes there are some life-changing, inspirational, and VERY educational humorous events. God's pulled a few practical jokes on me that turned out to be wonderful, even though I didn't think so at the time.

Geeeeeeeez, is everybody's God cranky but mine??!?!?!?

My mother-in-law developed breast cancer in the 60's. There wasn't much hope back then for being cured, but her family and the others in her church prayed fervently for her to be healed.

She was - to the bafflement of her doctors.

Also, WW has a story here:
And two other stories I told are here:

OK, I'll bite.

This is a really weird one, but what else would you expect from me?

My oldest sister and I didn't get along, and it got worse as we got older. She was a Southern Baptist and sure I was going to hell... I was a rebel without a cause. Anyway, when I was 16, I thought I heard God tell me that I would have to be a surrogate mother for her. She had a few miscarriages, and I just knew that one day I would be asked to carry a baby for her.

Anyway, I met Mr. Isla and was persuaded by my hormones to become a born-again Christian. When we decided getting married would be a practical thing, I told him about my situation with my sister. He thought it was great that I was so willing to do God's will....

On the morning of my wedding day, my sister turned to me and asked me if I would be a surrogate mother for her. I was like, woooo hoooo! I've waited nearly 10 years for you to ask me this! So, we decided that when I came back from my honeymoon, we would discuss it further.

Unfortunately, when I told Mr Isla the good news, he nearly ran off the highway. Our honeymoon was a total fiasco because he never really believed that I was serious about God wanting me to do this. I was just as pissed as he was for not taking me seriously.

We fought for 3 days. I was exhausted, heartbroken, angry. Finally, on the 3rd day, Mr Isla said "Okay. But we have to pray about the timing".

At that very hour, my sister got a phone call from a lawyer saying they had a mother who wanted her and her husband to adopt her unborn child.

That is how we got my nephew.... sometimes, all you have to do is be willing.

I was in the hospital at ten months old in a coma with meningitis. The doctors told my parents that it was pretty bad, and they were not sure if I would make it. If I did, they expected there to be some serious after effects. Well my fathers best friend came to see me, and he brought his mother, a very religious woman. She stood over my crib, and said a prayer over me for a few minutes. She then turned to my mother and said "She is going to be fine, but there is something wrong with her eyes. I don't know what, but something is not right." The next morning I woke up out of the coma, and my fever was gone. My mom said I was perfectly fine, except one of my eyes was rolled up in my head. That story always freaks me out a little.. ;)

Then when I was pregnant with my daughter, I had problems and was put on bedrest for three months. I was terrified as my due date drew nearer that something would go wrong, and the baby would die. The night before I went into labor, I fell asleep, and had a dream. In my dream my father (who died 5 years before) came up to me and hugged me. He bent down and whispered in my ear that he loved me, and not to worry, everything would be fine. I woke up crying my eyes out, because I have never felt that loved in my life. An hour later I went into labor, and had my daughter in thirty minutes. She was perfect, and there were no problems. Both of these things help me keep my faith, because I felt like God sent me a messenger, to let me know things would be ok. :)

Yup, GF... God sends messengers, and your dad got to be it.

Stuff like that helps me keep the faith, too... no matter how annoyed I get with religion in general.

unexpurg8d...

you are right. God has a sick, sick, sick sense of humor.... Irony seems to be the way!

Hehe...or...is it all a matter of perception? Oftentimes our interpretation of events leads us into the divine. For example, I'm making a lane change at 65 mph. I abort sensing the presence of a juvenille zipping into the same position from the opposite lane. I didn't see the little twit but somehow knew the lane change was dangerous. Was a god entity working through me? Or did I somehow see a bit into the future?

Many things like this occur in life. At my age I can't rule out divine intervention. I really do hate being treated as a pawn in a chess game but what to do about it? :)

This is like the football players demonstrating in the end field after a touchdown.

I am sure that if there is a G*d, he/she has more important things to do than to guide a football.

I guess my answer is no but I have felt very lucky at times like blowing a rear tire on my bike at 70 with my ex-wife on back. Didnt even lay it down but sure used up a lot of highway fast. No other traffic in either direction so say that was once. She never rode with me again after that so I guess some good did come of it. ;)

I agree, however my interpretation is that they're thanking God for their skills (i.e. gifts) that allowed them to catch the ball. That is if they are being sincere, which I highly doubt most of the time.

Hehe, I know I don't make a good case for the religious crowd by talking about how I listen to the little voices in my head!

Well, I never once claimed to be sane. ;)

Ok, I'm back now. I see I missed some good stories.

unxpurg8d God does seem to have sense of humor that's for sure and sometime I'm left saying; "Huh?" Sometimes I think God is a gag writer!

kranky Those are the stories to me that show divine intevention, thanks for sharing.

Isla Timing is everything! Too bad the timing hadn't been BEFORE your Honeymoon. Mr. Isla owes you a Honeymoon, BIGTIME.

GF What better messenger to calm you than you're dad, that's so great.

JellyBaby That's happened to me before and whether you call it premonition, intervention or whatever, it's unexplainable and yes sometimes we're just along for the big ride of life.

Thanks for sharing, just the type of inspiration I was hoping for.
