Ditto!

I've had ditto machines on the brain lately, too.

I actually googled them the other day and apparently the inks came in all colors, not just purple 🙂 - who knew?


edit: Earlier in the week, I actually got a 😕 from a young coworker when I said ditto 🙁 too young to know their glory.

The explanation I remember hearing back in elementary school was that purple ink was the cheapest.

In the modern day, the teachers would say that the ink is purple, just like Barney.

It was bothering me because I knew we called them by another name. Finally, it came to me: Mimeograph!

Mimeograph machines != ditto machines, totally different process.

Ahhh, learned something new tonight. Honestly, I'd never heard of a ditto machine before. Whatever we had in grade/HS were called mimeos, used purple ink, and had that unmistakable smell when hot off the press . . . so I ASSumed. 😱
