Damn, now I need to ditch my username I guess. :)

Oh well, DSL is a LOT better so far to me. Bellsouth DSL (business account). 1.5 down, 512K up. Awesome.

Heh. After my switch from cable to DSL the only outages I had were planned ones.

I had the opposite experience. My DSL would just randomly take a dump now and then for anywhere from 1 to 72 hours. Cable is always on and always fast (this may have something to do with the fact that I live in a "technologically challenged" neighborhood). ;)

OK...I wasn't going to post this for a few weeks, but, I can't wait.:D

I work in Brunswick,Oh in an industrial park that has zero high speed internet access. We were forced into using a satellite connection, which truly sucks @ss. The owner of my company is on the planning comission for the city and a few months ago the council was approached by two individuals who wanted to run a test program for "high speed wireless internet connectivity". I met one of these gentlemen yesterday. Here is what they will be offering should the site testing pan out...ready for this?

Up to 2 megabit/s in both directions at a cost of (tentatively) $39.95 a month.

Bullsh!t, right?

Our CS guy lives within the test area. They connected him today. He downloaded a 10mb windows update file in 24 seconds.

No joke.

Cool.

Around here, 1.5/512k DSL is considerably more expensive than the 1.5/256k cable, so.. cable is the best option.

I had 768k/128k dsl for the same price as cable.. before I got cable. :p

How much do you pay for it? (I want a faster upload!)

I want a faster upload!

Me to man! AT&T and Comcast suck ass, they offer 15kbps or 30kbps and that's it. Cable internet should be able to do WAY better than that.

I get 1.5/384 DSL here for less than the cost of cable. And it's a lot easier to serve from than the cable options I've seen.

Since we have a few backup DS3's from Ma Bell at work, I get it for $79.95/month through my business account manager. I work for a large softwre development shop/asp shop.

Damn you! I hate the Nazi like prices here in So. California.

Riverside, CA

1.5/128kbps - Charter Communications - $49.95 (plus $5 modem rental)

1.5/128kbps - SBC Telecommunications - $29.99 (one year contract plus the cost of a telephone line which works out to ~$45/month)

Upload speeds suck here. Thats all I have to say.

3.0mb+/128kb with Insight cable here in Champaign, IL.

Not bad, considering I don't upload much at all.

DSL would be a huge performance hit for me. Besides, I can't get DSL, I'm too far from the phone company.
