WARNING: Picture of man jumping is at top of article, but, worse (IMHO) is the paragraph in the end. Read no further if you have a weak stomach.

I just read this news article. And the disturbing part? READ last paragraph about the

<< ?ANIMAL RESPONSE? >>

experiment they did to "prove" their theory. Man, I'm NOT a member of PETA or any animal rights activist organization, but, DAMN that's just insane. I imagine there are folks who disagree, but, I can't imagine why!

They went way too far in having the picture of the guy. I am so pissed at the media right now.

P.S. That experiment was freaken stupid. A waste of life. I would have chosen to get my head lopped off too. Its way quicker then feeling all that pain and dying.

I read that yesterday and any insight I gleaned in why they jump was completely overshadowed by the sickness of that experiment -- which was probably federally funded.

The big problem with that research project is the assumption that the animals could actually be able to figure out what the consequences of their choice would be. It's quite possible they had no idea what would happen and that they just fled the pain.

Strangely interesting article, but that experiment is screwy and hardly good science.

what do i make of this: COMPLETE DISRESPECT.

What if that person falling was one of his friends, or relatives? would the author then publish it with it, no, SO WHY DON'T YOU RESPECT THOSE THAT ARE FAMILES OF THESE PEOPLE.

He may have a point, BUT ITS NOT WELCOMED AT THIS TIME! why are some people so damn godawful!

That's why I warned about picture at top, unless you are upset at media for posting it.

It's hard to say what one would do until put into that situation. Being burned alive is not something I would care to go through, thus the exit via the window would certainly be an option. Who knows...

Great story!

The only thing it was missing was a picture of someone on fire jumping. I'm not sure why they showed that upside down guy.

They weren't 'jumping' if you ask me... here's my theory of what happens:

A plane crashes into your building with such a shock it shatters all the windows... such shock is bound to cause disorientation. Then jet black smoke rises and your office is completely black. You stumble, and not thinking, you move towards where the light and fresh air is... unfortunately, due to the black smoke and the disorientation from the crash shock, you don't realize it's a hole in the wall... and you pummelled down.

About the animal part...

I was under the impression that humans are the only creatures that can contemplate their own mortality.

Those animals probably didn't equate head off = death.

Animals aren't dumb. They can smell blood. I wouldn't doubt that there are some pheremones that the dead animals give off that they other animals can smell so they would avoid the dead body, in nature at least.

You used to be able to do all sorts of crazy research way back. They've tightened the laws regarding animal and human research, ie. Stanford Prison experiment.

late.
