Distributed Folding Questions from a Newbie

episodic

Lifer
Hi,
We have two machines, one I am running Project Seti, and after reading through, I'm putting the 2nd on Dist Folding. I've been signed up for a over a day now, and I still don't show up in Team Anandtech, how long does that take?

Now I'm running the screensaver, but I set it to blank. Is this better for someone that does not want it running at all when they are doing something (I'm forgetful), I'd probably never remember to stop/start text clients unless there is something I didn't know.

Thanks!

Project folding machine will be an AMD Athlon XP 1600 with 768 of RAM, so hopefully that will add a little to the team.

It takes a day for stats to show up and the stats are only updated once a day I think. Unless you are doing something really ram intensive, I think running the CLI client with extra ram settings is fine. I ran it everyday on a 1800+ with 512 megs of ram and didn't even notice it.

Thanks, looks good!

Looks like I might make it to page 1 someday 🙂

I've only got one system online now, but in a few days I'll have a new ASUS motherboard 512 megs of DDR ram and one of those new Applebred Duron's running at 1.8 gigahertz on it's way from Newegg. I'll probably lightly oc to 2.0ghz, and I'll start it crunching then 🙂.

You could also consider running the CLI as a service so you don't have to worry about starting and stopping it. It runs at idle priority which means that you shouldn't even notice it.
