distributed computing for *useful* research

I will probably get flamed but wouldn't it be better to do the disributed computing for AIDs research or protein folding problem which would be useful to the society rather than go look gor aliens?(the latter has a more "cool" factor)

You will not be flamed here for recommending Distributed Computing projects....That's what TA is all about....🙂 While not all projects reveal a great usefullness, they all have their unique attraction and qualities...Some are for stats and races, some just to prove that DC works, some for actual research....🙂
