Distributed Computing for a good cause, suggestions on a project needed

I would like to devote a good block of computing power to some distributed computing cause, however, I am only familiar with SETI, Folding, and the ones from Distributed.net. I would appreciatre a quick rundown of the distributed computing projects that theoretically will benefit someone in the near future.

So cast your votes for the most noble causes! ^^

Hey Sickpuppy! My vote would have to go to Community TSC

"The Rothberg Institute For Childhood Diseases is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for children suffering from Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC). We operate at the intersection of modern biology, computer science, and chemistry."

TA is in 14th place, but with some additional crunching power, we could really move up the ranks! 😉

I'm currently doing F@H... we're in 26th place, and could definitely use some help...
Our goal: to understand protein folding, protein aggregation, and related diseases

What are proteins and why do they "fold"? Proteins are biology's workhorses -- its "nanomachines." Before proteins can carry out their biochemical function, they remarkably assemble themselves, or "fold." The process of protein folding, while critical and fundamental to virtually all of biology, remains a mystery. Moreover, perhaps not surprisingly, when proteins do not fold correctly (i.e. "misfold"), there can be serious effects, including many well known diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, and Parkinson's disease.
Here's a thread with some info to get started... Feel free to ask any more questions if you want more info. 🙂

United Devices is a project dedicated to find cures against deseases like cancer, anthrax, sars etc. As a user you can select the projects you'd like to run, currently cancer is the main research project. Stats are calculated with cpu time and your system specs, so that would be the same for all different projects.

The TeAm has currently ~865 members and is in 16th place. Since a month were getting some new members which we realy need. Our top producing member left last year and we need to get back on track..

Good luck on deciding what project to run. All projects mentioned in this thread are good choices.

Thanks for the quick responses, I will read through the respective home pages and figure out what to do. Thanks a bunch!
