There's no reason to believe that the US's rates of violent crime are related to gun ownership. Violent crime has precipitously decreased in the US in the last 30 years while gun ownership has declined as well. That seems to be evidence against your argument.

But there is reason to believe that the UK's rates of violent crime are located to a lack of gun ownership.

You can't compare violent crime figures, our population density is much higher, our drinking n' fighting culture is more prevalent and the way we police and report violent crimes is different.

The problem with your post is that you are looking at "violent crime", not gun crime, there is a difference. Show me data for gun related crimes.

I'm not sure that any data to that effect would even be relevant because while the AWB was in effect, many states made it MUCH easier to conceal carry a firearm. Too many variables.

Yes, you report crimes POST prosecution; FBI numbers are PRE prosecution. More than that, Scotland isn't that dense. We also have more high density cities where most of our crime happens.

I'm not saying it's a dead simple "it's all guns" equation, but I will say that I'd rather find other ways to drop our homicides per 100k by 3 to hit your levels WITHOUT making our violent crime rates skyrocket.

Last I looked, Aussie land was in a similar situation to the UK - they're WAY less dense.

But most Aussies don't live in the outback with crocodiles or work in the farm, a big chunk of Australia is a dry desert. Most Australians live in urban areas.
