Dissappointing C1 1.8A performance

My roommate bought a dell 1.8A, so I figured I might as well test it out and see what it can do. The 1.8A was SL6LA. I was hoping for 2.987 at 166 FSB. It was not even close to stable no matter how much voltage I put through it (failed prime95 instantly). Needless to say, I gave it back to him and kept my 2.26 @ 166.

Sorry to hear that Rkonster. I swapped out my 1.8A with a C1 1.8A from a Dell 2300 box that we received last Friday. On my Epox 4G4A+, I hit 2.88GHz with stock Intel cooler it at 1.675V (actual was showing 1.64V). Ordered an Abit BE7 and Alpha 8942 to hopefully get the OC up a little! If you come across another C1 1.8A, give it another try. A lot of people are having really good luck with them.

Edit: mine is the same stepping as the one you tried - SL6LA.

Nice roommate you have! If I had a new chip and wanted to OC it I would do it myself and if not I certainly wouldn't let him OC it lol.
