Dissapointing Overclock?!

Abit KT7A-Raid
750 Tbird (green)
512mb RAM (crucial and shikatronics PC133 Cas2)
Geforce 2 GTS
Maxtor 30GB HD
some USR Modem
SB PCI128
AOpen 250 Watt PS
Chrome Orb (I know I know... they sent me the wrong one, currently waiting for my fop32)

My problem is, when I run at anything over 900 (140x6.5 for example) I get problems with everything dying, and it reboots all by it self. Like it all goes black, then I get the normal startup procedure.. could this be a PS problem?

And the best overclock I can get stable for now is 133x6.5 (866) however I get fairly nice memory scores, and it runs well, no complaining about that... but was hoping to push it near 1Ghz....

Could the HSF be holding me back?
Oh ya... voltage is at 1.85 right now.

No question - a Chrome Orb can't cut it at those speeds. I ditched mine a while back for the FOp 38 and Taisol (Have 2).

Let us know how that fop works when you get it. I too am dissapointed so far with the overclocking results I'm limited to. I am still messing around with different bus speeds, voltages, memory settings, but I don't see much more happening.

In case anyone was intrested.. here are some benchmarking scores:

hehehe or maybe your 750 athlon just wont run faster then 900

i have two duron's a 600 and a 650. i use the 600 and have it clocked at 850 (stable) but if i swap out the 600 for the 650 the fastest it will go is 800mhz (stable)

i guess it just comes down to luck, either you will get a cpu with lots of overclocking potential or you wont.

🙂 but in your case it may just be a heat issue also.

good luck

Yep...could be the processor since you have the green core.

From what I've been reading, the green core has aluminum interconnects in the circuitboard. The blue cores have copper interconnects and are far better overclockers.

Mine does have a blue core. But I am using an AOpen 235watt power supply, so I'll try a 250watt that I have here, but it's not Athlon aproved either. And I don't have the best of heatsinks, although my cpu never goes above 43c.

the green 750s systems I have built did not overclock very well most of them only did 900 a few did 950, all the 750s from dresden did at least a gig and lots of them due 1100mhz I built about 30 copper 750 systems.

Well then it may just be stuck here. Not the worst of situations however... I fried my Duron 750 and sent it back to them, in return (for free) they sent me this TBird. Not a shabby situation I guess. hehe.

Well I am using a crappy generic cooler to cool this tbird 750@1050 and idle temps around 32-35 and full load about 50.
