dissapearing networking taskbar icons

I have my LAN network connection set to "show icon in taskbar when connected", and I decided to do the same for dial-up networking.

So I went into the dial up networking properties and checked the "show icon in taskbar when connected" box. But it never stays checked. Whenever I reboot it is unchecked.

What is going on here?
