There is very little difference between Professional and Home for the average home users. If you dont currently own xp for instal in your new system you can buy a OEM version of it when you buy your hardware...just remember to select a version that has SP2. XP Home OEM runs about $90 and Professional about $140. SATA (Serial ATA) is a serial device and is generally consider slightly faster, but usually not even noticiable in many circumstances. IDE is a parallel device and has been the long time standard. SATA vs. IDE differences also include different types of cables/connectors. IDE drives might be a little better choice for the novice builder. This anti static wrist band is avail. at newegg also.

Just a couple more thoughts...do you already have your optical drive(cdrom/burner)? Do you have and or want a floppy drive? Outside of that..bingo..you hit your $1000 target budget and you are going to have a very nice system that will game very well, plus you still have your other computer....that is...if you can build it..🙂 GOOD LUCK!

yup I got the drives, but is making a computer really that hard?....

Actually no its not..Its just that as a first timer I cant stress the importants enough of taking your time and following instructions. Most motherboard manuals will have a pretty good instruction on getting the motherboard setup after you get it mounted into the case. This forum is a great place to post for help if you have a question along the way. When in doubt..stop! Handle the CPU, Memory and Video card with great care..esp. the cpu. It has 940 pins..if you mishandle it and bend some of them, you may never get it in the cpu socket.

A couple of quick tips to get you started..After you remove you new case from the box remove the I/O plate on the back and replace it with the I/O plate that is in the Motherboard Box. Install the CPU/Heatsink/fan and Memory onto the motherboard before you install the motherboard into the case. Install the motherboard into the case before you install the power supply, this will give you more room to work while installing the motherboard. Make sure you use the "standoffs" that come in the parts bag with the case to mount the motherboard on. Take great care in connecting the case front panel wires to the motherboard, its real ez to mess that up. I was just reviewing the motherboard manual for that board..its not bad at all, it should be of some help to you in gettting the motherboard setup right.
