Disputing a Toll Booth Violation

A couple of weeks ago I was driving to San Diego and I accidentally got in the EZ-Pass lane (or whatever it's called) and by the time I noticed I couldn't get in the right lane (I was too far left and am not an aggressive driver :p) ..and since the road completely splits, I couldn't do anything.

Is there any way to dispute this? I would never purposely try to bypass the toll booth or anything. I am willing to pay the $3 bucks (original toll fee) but the violation is an extra 30 bucks which totally sucks.
Just wondering if anyone has done this before or if it's a hopeless cause.

you could try to settle...but that would mean taking time off work and fighting traffic up to the courthouse. You might want to think about just paying the extra $30 and moving on

I do believe you are OFFICIALLY out $33. Plus other fines, fees, state tax, infrastructure tax, toll tax and tax tax.

192.2 people a day probably say the same thing you do. And they all hear the same thing:

Sorry you didn't feel the need to read the 3 signs you drove right under that said "This lane EZ PASS ONLY" nor read the lane marking painted on the ground in luminous paint. Pay the cashier on the way out.

I've driven in a toll road in socal w/o paying toll and like previously mentioned, if it's your first violation, you just pay the original fee.

Watch out in OC, it's really stupid but you pay toll twice on those toll roads, once when you get on and once when you get off.
