If you honestly haven't figured out how power works, what kind of interests are behind "institutional" Democrats, and why the Democratic party will never support populist candidates that actually do the things that people want rather than serve corporate donors, figure it out now.

That's conspiracy theory, right?

How can AOC support the cabal? She can't? Then she will never go anywhere. That's the sad truth of this country.

I dont even think the mainstream Democratic party is ready for someone who belongs to the Democratic Socialists of America. IMHO.

What positions of hers do you think are unpopular? If you look at them for the most part they garner overwhelming support from all Americans, not just Democrats.

You know better than this man...its not about her bullet point issues...I agreet the majority of Americans, including myself, agree in principle. Its HOW to make those happen which cause divides.

Well, she wants to do what Bernie did and offer free university. If I remember correctly, you said that was dumb because it would be too expensive.

Whether I think something is dumb or not is irrelevant. Blackangst was speaking to the popularity of those opinions, not to their merit.

I agree that how to accomplish and fund them is important. Here's the problem though - nobody seemed to care about how to pay for it when the GOP dropped $1.5 trillion in debt financed money in the bank accounts of the ultra rich about six months ago so, no offense, any conservative concerns over how her policies are funded don't carry any weight. Frankly, we know conservatives don't care how things are paid for or if they're paid for at all. Show me a conservative who furiously fought against those tax cuts and maybe I would take that person seriously.

I agree 100%. The bulk of D's and R's use the same bank account rules.

They really don’t though. Look at the last major piece of legislation passed by the Democrats, the ACA. It was fully funded. (It actually reduced the deficit!) Look at Bill Clinton’s initiatives, they were fiscally responsible too. Now look at basically every major piece of legislation Republicans have passed for the last 40 years. None of them were funded.

One party cares about deficits and the other party lies about caring about deficits when their true goal is preventing social spending. Conservatives have lost all credibility when it comes to fiscal responsibility.

Please note that this will not prevent them from lying about fiscal responsibility again the next time Democrats are in power. It will also not prevent the media from pretending to believe them.

No, he said that they were not ready for her. B.S. got push back on what he wanted to. Even you, someone that is firmly left thought he was to much.

I have no interest in pedantic word games as to what ‘ready for her’ means.

That's fine. But the point is that if someone like you is not ready for her, maybe others on the Left are also still not ready as they were not ready for BS.

Wait, a Democrat is a sore loser and a liar? Instead of admitting another person won the election they cause trouble and smear their opponent? This isn't even news, it's business as usual for Democrats.

Um, this is a non-story. He's not running. False thread headline.

At the bottom of the OP's link:

Update 9:51: Crowley responded to Ocasio-Cortez's accusation on Twitter, writing: "Alexandria, the race is over and Democrats need to come together. I've made my support for you clear and the fact that I'm not running. We've scheduled phone calls and your team has not followed through. I'd like to connect but I'm not willing to air grievances on Twitter."

And this story was clearly updated BEFORE this post was made. Meaning someone is intentionally trying to spread misinformation.

It seems odd that Ocasio-Cortez would fire a Twitter round at Cowley. The public domain isn’t the best place to air inter-campaign grievances if party unity is the goal.

If we can afford multi trillion dollar wars along with all the fossil fuel subsidies and let's not forget corporations like Apple using tax inversions and other loopholes to avoid paying taxes,

We can at least if not free bring the cost of education down to were any loans taken out can be manageable by recent graduates instead of the debt anchor it has become dragging them down and the rest of the country with them.

That is a huge conversation to have, but I don't know if it fits within this thread. My point was only that she is advocating for things BS did and BS was too far for most in the party.

I saw that, I haven't updated anything yet because 1) his name is still on the ballot, and it's not clear why he hasn't removed it yet (they're claiming it's difficult to do, I think) and 2) I don't think he's disputed her claim that he stood her up on 3 scheduled conference calls to concede the race.

I'm in wait-and-see mode, hopefully it turns out to be nothing.

It does. OTOH, it's a nothingburger.
It was a nothingburger when Cowley was still on the ballot as a simple procedural thing, but she felt the need to Tweet, so that made it a somethingburger. Now, Republicans may try to twist this as indicative of some major rift, which it is not, but its still a curious development.
