disposable memory cards

This is SUCH a stupid idea. What amazes me most is the fact that they appear to be pricing these disposable cards at the same or higher prices than regular flash memory. Just what we need - more crap to pile onto our landfills.

Would be nice though just being able to run into CVS or something when you accidently run out of space instead of looking for Best Buy or WalMart.

True, but I prefer the route of just using a card large enough (I have a 512 MB card) that it is realistic to never remove it.
Considering these are probably going to be cards that failed QA with erase or rewrite errors, this is pure profit for Sandisk. With this in mind I'd expect a 64 MB to go for less than $10, seeing as how it is $10 they would have had to throw away.
write once 64mb for 25 is !(gonna fly).
maybe write once for like... 5-10 or something, that might be worth it (although lets say if we store these write once cards in for 20 years, will they have such "readers" available?

hey hey hey, I never said it's a good idea at $25 for 64mb
but I have total confidence that the price will soon drop to reasonable levels.
also, I think seeing as how they're just going to be sold in drug stores, I think the price will always be a little high.
but I think the idea here is that tightwads who get some cheapo crappy digicam w/ built in mem, or don't want to spring for a large expensive card have an easy safety net in case they run out of space. maybe you go on a long trip and don't anticipate taking a lot of pics, but you were wrong. with these cards, you don't have to worry about deleting pics in an emergency.

Exactly what I was about to say. Take the picture, it sucks, now you're stuck with it.
Also, pricing scheme = teh st00pid.

Too expensive. You have to remember that retail prices for a 64MB CF at a B&M with no sale going on is about $35-45. Add on another 10% markup for drug store prices. When's the last time you bought a $50 item (not prescrition drugs) at a drug store?
