My wife just found a coupon for contacts at a local eye care shop. I told her I could find some good info about this online. I'm throwing this out here before I even start searching on my own. I'm sure many of you have been down this road already.

I remember a piece on TV a few years ago about the contact lens scam concerning the length of time particular types could be worn safely. Turned out that the different types actually were the very same lenses! Well, my son wears his current type for a couple months at a time. Who has the lowest price for these? How much do you know about that scam I mentioned and has it finally been resolved?

I'll start shopping on the web after I post this. Can't wait to see what's what on this issue!

TIA,
Ornery

Edit: Ah hah, just found this:

I use ACUVUE disposables

regarding the life of the lenses, are they being slept in or not? Obviously, taking them out at night will enable you to wear them longer.

My eye doctor says it's best to throw them out after one week before. I use them for 2-3 weeks. I could probably go longer?

Well, how does this deal sound?

$14.50 Optima FW /SeeQuence II ( 6Pk )
* 4 Must buy four boxes
______
$58.00 for 4 boxes.
$xx.xx Shipping (I have to fill out the order form to get that price)

There should be a manufacturers rebate somewhere, but haven't found it on their site or anywhere else.

I currently have Optima FWs and they cost me about $40 for a 3 month supply, which is 12 lenses, or 2 boxes. I used to get Focus Dailies, which were around $150 for a 3 month supply with discounts. My doctor says not to sleep in contacts because your eye needs to get air, and sleeping with them on can cause buildup. :)

IBHacknU, I also use the ACUVUE contact lenses. They are the two-week disposibles, I have worn more for 3 or even 4 weeks.
I'm sure this has some long term effects...

Yea, that sort of scares me. Does the two-week period refer to leaving them in 24/7. As I said before, I sport glasses on the weekends and when I'm not working.

Dang, I'm about to pull the trigger on an order from Web Lens, because there is supposed to be a $20 Baush & Lomb rebate if I buy from them. The total with shipping is:

$63.00 Order Subtotal
$ 5.99 Shipping Costs
______
$68.99 Order Total
______
$10.75 per box after MFG $20.00 mail in rebate

But if I could apply that rebate to the price at
Just Lenses, I could get the price down to $9.50 per box! Oh well, Al Gore says I'm rich, so I might as well save the trouble and pay the $10.75 per box on the sure thing. ;)

Thanks for the help guys.

Sunday is usually the only day I don't wear them
I wear them about 16 hours a day, sometimes when I nap too
They should give us some more info!
