Display to TV

Hi all,

I have a problem that seems very simple. I want to connect my PC to lcd tv (model is Philips 32pf5403). PC has 8800GT and Windows 7, latest drivers. Since TV does not have DVI/VGA input I got DVI2HDMI cable, so I connected from GPU's DVI to TV's HDMI. There is no way I can get the image to display, the screen is black with sometimes displayed "Unsupported Video Format". I pre-set resolution (1280x720, tried all possible refresh rates). If TV is connected after the monitor, both screens turn black.

At first I thought it was Nvidia drivers, so I tried to plug in another PC with AMD 5850, Win 7, latest drivers. Same thing happens.

Any suggestions?

Hmm, with two different video cards I'd be suspicious of that cable. Does the 5850 you have feature an actual HDMI port on it, and have you tried it if so?

@Arkaign: You are correct, it worked with a pure HDMI cable. I didn't think of that :-( . Now, its either faulty cable, or TV will not accept input converted from DVI.
@Borealis7: I've heard about it and tried something in nvidia driver panel. I have no idea how to force TV detection in Catalist Drivers. TV Detection is set to "Loading on Control panel Startup", also there is HDTV support tab with no such option.

Anyway, its working now, thanks.
