Display scaling issue when running HDMI through receiver

Win 7 x64, 6950, HDMI to Denon 391, HDMI from receiver to monitor. The receiver does not support pass through, so it has to be on for the monitor to receive the signal. The only problem is every time I turn off the receiver and then turn it back on later the screen is scaled far out of proportion and I have to go into CCC, and this is the weird part, either enable or disable GPU scaling depending on what I did last time I had to go through this. It doesn't seem to make any difference whether it's enabled or disabled, except that switching it scales the screen correctly. It doesn't do this when I leave the receiver on and only turn off the monitor.

Anyone know what I can do? It's like CCC isn't remembering the scaling setting or the receiver is resetting something every time it's turned off and on. I didn't have this problem when using HDMI straight from the video card to the monitor.

I'm not saying this is your issue, but I have multiple computers hooked up to a KVM switch. When I built my current main rig (i7 920/HD4890) I had a problem with the new machine remembering my resolution when I switched away. My solution was to disable power saving/hibernation. It annoyed me to no end that my resolution kept changing as I switched back and forth. I don't know if was Win7 Ultimate or my ATI card that was the culprit.

My power profile is set to high/performance and everything is disabled except for the monitor sleep after 5 minutes. I'll test with that disabled as it would be great if that were the problem.

Another option may be a driver conflict. Before going through the receiver I used the Acer driver for my model monitor, but now everything detects it as DENON-AVAMP and I'm pretty sure it's not passing the EDID information.
