Display problem

I'm having a hard time putting this issue into the correct terminology. But my problem lies with graphic quality on my display. When I'm watching a video or playing a game, certain colors will appear along the edge of objects/faces etc. Sometimes its a rainbow effect. Other times its a specific color, such as fluorescent blue on a cloudy sky background. It's very easy to see when panning in a game or watching a video. Its also visible on my browser icons that have a red coloration.

I don't know the correct terminology to describe this. I would appreciate any and all suggestions on how to troubleshoot this problem. I tried to take a screenshot, but it doesn't show up in the image.

Seems to me like you're trying to describe video artifacts. Those are usually related to video card memory if I'm not mistaken.

I'd download atitool (it works fine with Nvidia cards). It's a GPU stress test and has a counter for how long its been since the last artifact. It does have some tolerance, but if it's noticeable you should see the counter reset to verify that's what's going on.

If that is what's happening I'd strongly recommend returning the card if it's still under warranty. You can also try lowering your GPU memory speed (just a tad) to see if that helps.

What power supply are you using?
