Ok some good news: I finally managed to get the sharpness contrl back on! I decided I had nothing to lose before waiting for a possible RMA on monday and plugged in my DVD player which supported VGA. It was great. And then when I plugged the computer back in I immediately saw that it made some adjustments, and guess what: the sharpness and everything was back! W00t! 🙂
But I am stil left with basically the same problem: the monitor isn'T defective in any way, but I have the same text rpoblems. Basically the edges of the characters types, of the folders, and the icons are much too sharp.I just wanna make sure that everything is set ok, that all my problems are due to my monitor and not my software configuration. There are rectangles formed by dashes around files or folders that i select with my mouse.I have just taken a screen cap that shows how my desktop is: if you can watch it (and are in 32bit colors mode), for the first picture pay attention to the edges around some icons (or folders), especially my two big .iso backup files and the admunch icon, about the fonts and about the one msn messenger icon i clicked on and that i've got my mouse pointer on, which to me is blue and full of dots and rough around the edges (the others too). Maybe these are Windows related and something you know can be done about it? I've shown it to a couple friends and they seem to notice something weird:

Some of my friends say that what the fonts they see on the second picture is what they always saw, some others that it is allright for their configurations, others areclueless on how to get the fonts displayed back properly. Playing with everything in display proptrties and in police sizes don'T change my problem, everything is just not polished. I gotta absolutely keep the 1024 by 768 resolutoin that I am currently using, anything higher I cannot bear to see. There must be some way to reset the fonts back to normal isnt it?I have everything set in 32bits mode. What can I do to get my screen quality back again?
