Display Adapter Problem

Hey guys, I'm attempting to fix my buddies PC. It's an older computer, don't know too much about it, running Win98 (Non-SE) P3 1.13GHz 64MB PC100. Now the problem is with the video card. Upon start up there is an error/dialog box that comes up relating to the display adapter. (Sorry, didn't write it down) It says "Device cannot find any free I/O resources to use." I know there's not a lot of information here, but I was wondering if anyone would know how to solve this problem?

Also:
It's Intel 740-854 Win9x PC1.0a.3.1.1526

Thanks!

Did he install anything in it before the error? does he have a ton of add ons, like PCI cards and crap. Sounds almost like there are no free IRQs for the video card to use. It may just be crappign out since that is a pretty old computer.

Well, he doesn't have many devices. The only thing in there, besides the AGP videocard, is a PCI NIC. I just replaced his motherboard - due to a burnout/exploding capicator. He originally had a PII Mobo/Processor combo. The new board is a DFI - one of the few PIII's on NewEgg. The reason he only 'upgraded' to a PIII is because he is going to have me build a new computer in the next month. Anyway, the videocard was working yesterday - the day after I put the new motherboard in. Now today, he said it's not working and he thinks he may have done something. Is it possible this is only a driver error? Or will this be more painful to fix?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling all new drivers for the board, the card, etc. Try to go over there and look at the error yourself, see when it happens. At boot, or in windows, etc. Also, "I think I may have done something" is 99% = "oops, i did something" 😛

Hehe, Yeah I figured he did something. Anyway, I have the computer at my house right now - and I am searching for the drivers as we speak. Hopefully, I'll find something.
