Another success story ruined?

Here are some reviews of BRAVE:

Saying that Brave is entertaining but not astonishing is pretty much admitting your straight-A student got a B.

The Pixar name used to mean something. And it never quite meant pleasantly safe, safely forgettable movies like this.

The tone is uneven and more often morose than joyful. The pacing is slow and at times almost tedious. The end result is something that feels like it was put together from a jumble of Disney clichés tacked onto the skeleton of Beauty and the Beast.

What we get would be fine from another studio, but too safe and familiar for Pixar.

After a strong start introducing the main characters, in particularly the wonderfully animated Merida, Pixar's Brave stumbles and tumbles through an appalling screenplay.

So, let me get this straight.

PIXAR > Disney
PIXAR = Profit
Disney buys PIXAR
Steve Jobs = Profit
PIXAR = DISNEY
PIXAR = Crap

Disney should have become PIXAR, not the other way around, and now the fools are wondering most likely why the people don't love PIXAR movies anymore.

Yeah, PIXAR, use to mean something.

You can't have a perfect streak like a god.

I loved every Pixar films but my first skipped film is Cars 3. I heard it's horrid.

Now every random ass studios churn out CGI films for kids, not just Dreamworks. Not surprised if Pixar fails more now.

Disney acquired PIXAR in 2006.

Arguably their three best films, Ratatouille, WALL-E, Up, came out in 2007, 2008, and 2009, respectively.

The greater question is, when did the merger actually complete from an operational/production standpoint and what was the first project of the new teams?

My guess is BRAVE is the first.

I assume you mean Cars 2.

Were those Rotten Tomatoes reviews? A heck of a lot of fanboys decided that Pixar was going to to take a dive as soon as Disney bought them.

I am guessing those reviews are from such folks whose mind was already made up before they saw the movie.

It hasn't been a good year for Disney, especially since the failure of John Carter. Pixar I think is a studio that shows the benefits of giving artists a blank slate. When executives start making movies, that's where things go bad.

But, you can't expect a studio to curn out Citizen Kane year after year. Cars and Cars 2 were both rated lower than than Brave. Up, Toy Story 3, and Wall E are masterpieces and tough acts to follow.

Up is the worst Pixar movie I've seen.

In reading some snippets of reviews it really does come across as if people have been waiting for just the right moment to say "This is the most Disneyfied Pixar movie yet!".

I'm 16 and I love my Disney movjes

Me too. Especially the musicals like Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, etc. They're fantastic.

Can't say the same for everything after the first act in Up.

"Kevin?" "Kevin!" "Kevin Kevin Kevin..." -gets old really fast. The dogs too. There are only a few laughs in acts 2 and 3, so I don't feel like I'll ever watch the whole movie again except for the first part (I've already watched the whole thing a few times anyway).

even if Brave is crap who cares? one stinker in a line of great movies is to be expected.

I didn't care for wall-e it was good but not great. Up was good. err ok i liked every pixar movie to date.

Disney movies are ok. I will say i was amazed to find a lot of people think Disney made up the movies like beauty and the beast, Little mermaid, cinderella etc.

Everything after the opening scene sucked in Up. The whole Finding Nemo also sucked. Toy Story and Toy Story 2 were goo. Toy Story 3 was just average.

As for Brave, the visuals were good in Brave. The details they put into the forest scenes is amazing. The story was meh. I'm not sure how they came up with the name of the movie.

EDIT: Tangled was much better.
