I'm thinking of going to disneyland...not during summer coz i know that will be hell but sometime
in maybe Sept/Oct/Nov,...when its low period and low traffic. Really don't wanna wait 45-1hr for every
ride. Any ideas on where to get cheap tickets, like 2day passes, or lodging specials etc? I'm thinkin
2-3full days...i heard California Adv kinda sucks anyway.

o yeh..i'm talking about the disney in california of course.

i used to work there back in college

sept (after school is back in session), oct, and nov are all good times to visit. midweek is always slower than the weekends. CA has some really good "grown up" rides that should not be missed. You may also want to check out universal studios if you're visiting from out of state. The new mummy ride is supposed to top anything disney has.

check mousesavers for discount tips

I used to live 20 minutes from Knotts and Disney, an hour and ah alf from magic mountain.

Disney land = teh boring, but maybe since I went there like 10 times from 7th grade through 10th grade.
I also went to knotts around 15 times.

Tickets can be had cheap, at least daily ones, from local colleges (might only be to students, so you need to know someone who goes there). You can probably get them for like 20-30 bucks a pop. Now, going there so often, I have found that disneyland is teh suck and Knotts is a lot more fun. More coasters, less crappy rides, and less bratty kids running around (still a lot) then disney.

For reference, I'm now 20 and wouldn't mind going to Knotts again. I went so much is because kids would have parents who work for companies that would have company "outings" to the parks. Elder siblings wouldn't want to go, so I would go in their place and have free meals and a free day in the park.

I went to BOTH disneyland and disneyworld.

I wasnt all too thrill about going since I'm not a kid and would prefer to do other things and walk around a "theme park" all day, but I actually had fun. I went to DL when I was 13 and yea I was excited and all since I wanted to see disneyland! What kid doesnt want to go see mickey?

so, the fiance and i went to DW last year and it was fun. Mind you we went in July and it was frigging hot! never again i tell you!

we didnt really shop around, so we bought our tickets straight from disneyworld's website. cost us $521 for two ppl for 5 days. why 5 days? man, we spent 2 days at some of the places.

oh forgot you wanna know about disneyland. It was ok, little smaller. what did i know? i was 13 and thought the place was huge.

I don't know about deals.

My only advice to anyone going to Disneyland is to definitely take advantage of their Fastpass tickets on any rides that have them. It's basically a reservation. The most popular rides will have a Fastpass machine. You press the button and it gives you a ticket with a reservation time on it. You come back to that ride at that time and you will only wait 5-10 minutes max to get on that ride, even if there is a huge 1 hour line. When we went last, it was pretty crowded, but Fastpass saved us a ton of time waiting in lines.

We are actually planning on going to Disneyland and Seaworld sometime in the fall also. So I'd be interested in hearing if anyone else has any money saving tips.

Fastpass is great but Space Mountain is closed for renovation until next year. I was sorely disappointed when I went last November.

I've been to Disneyworld 18-20 times, and Disneyland twice. Usually it's slower at the beginning of the school year, Sept/Oct, but once you get closer to Thanksgiving it is PACKED. Most people leave right after new years though, so that is also a good time.

Yeah. I really didn't understand why anyone would wait in an hour long line instead of just coming back an hour later and waiting 5 minutes with a fastpass.

The Southern California City Pass here at mousesavers.com looks pretty good.
We were thinking about going to all those places except Knottsberry. I added it up and it's a pretty good savings.

Is Knottsberry's Farm a good place for little kids?

My kids ages will be: 9, 6, and 4.

What about California Adventures? Would it be good? Or is it more adult oriented?

Cali adventures is pretty good but not worth the $40 or $50 it costs to get in. Be sure to ride the "Wings Over America" ride, which is arguably the best ride at the entire park. Unless you're affiliated with some educational institute or something, you'll probably end up paying full price (and with you and your kids, it will be at least $150 with parking). Your best bet is the "buy 1 day get 1 day free" thing and just visit California Adventures another day.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this(didn't read above posts). If you decide to go, get Fass Pass, it's like a reservation for a certain ride, you pick it up and come back at a later time in the day. so you dont have to wait in line

I was only asking because with that City Pass deal, you get the hopper pass so it wouldn't cost anything more to also go to California Adventures. I just wasn't sure if there would be anything for my younger children to do there.

California adventure actually has lots of cool stuff, a few of the rides are a little more fast paced than normal disney rides(tower of terror, coaster, drop thing etc).

thanks for the input guys...thing is we're gonna go with cousins...maybe relatives, small kids.. :(
so we have to go to disney and won't have time for Universal which i really would've liked. Since i'm sorta like the 'guide' i can't leave them either.

Yep. I'd second that one if you aren't going with young kids.
Magic Mountain is a blast. But there really isn't anything there for younger ones to do.

good choice. you'll have a fun time. if you're coming from out of town, you may want to buy a passporter. i got one for disneyworld and it really helped the entire planning process. there's supposed to be a new disneyland version coming out late summer.
