Disneyland/California Adventure vs. Six Flags Magic Mountain

My family is planning a trip to California, but we're having a debate as to which theme park we should go to. I've been to both, but not too recently...it's been about 6 years for Disneyland and about 8 years for Magic Mountain. So being a roller-coaster lover I'm all for Six Flags, but the *girls* want to go to Disneyland, of course.

I'd like to get some opinions as to which one is better. Keep in mind that it will be my mom, dad, myself and my four siblings, the youngest of which is 14 years old.

They are both totally different. Disneyland is definitly more "family friendly." It's also a LOT cleaner and nicer than six flags.
Magic mtn. is also a popular gang hangout, so some people don't stay late in the evening. (Sheriff office on the property) They do however have awsome rides.
It just depends on what you want, rides or disney.

disneyland/california adventure is more of a family hangout place. rides are not thrilling, so it might not be fun for you depending on what you like. magic mtn is pure thrills. super roller coasters, awesome rides, and incredible thrills. could be less fun depending on who you are also. when we went with our friends, some people were too scared to go on any of the rides. i love the goliath.

Magic mountain probably won't be very much fun with a traditional family. It's more of a place you want to go with adventurous type people that aren't scared of the rides.
Disneyland is never fun though because there are always too many damn people there.

Magic mountain is like a gang hangout. Its pretty ghetto now, thats why you can get in for like 24 bucks. Disneyland on the other hand is so freakin expensive. Last check, admission is like 52. Same with cali adventure.
Get a 2 day park hopper for cali/disneyland, 107 if i remember correctly.

lol, yeah...all those gangs whose moms paid their 40 bucks or whatever to get them in. The only "gangs" there are a bunch of loud mouthed pussies who won't actually back up anything they say.

I'd rather go to MM, and my friends & family would rather go to MM, girls included.

Man, I must be going at the wrong times, cause I've been to MM almost every summer for the past few years and there's never been a gang problem. Maybe you guys just need to get away from your computers more often and realize that blacks and hispanics make up a large portion of the california population these days...

I never made any generalization remarks, referring that blacks and mexicans = gangs. So dont assume

Both are awesome, but Disneyland is a bit more oriented towards children and has much slower rides. However it's also a lot cleaner. Magic Mountain on the other hand has much more thriller rides and is better overall IMO... and gang problems? Dunno, I've only been there once and didn't say any shady groups of people, but maybe it has changed.

Magic Mountain has had problems with gangs since befire Six Flags bought them out in the 80s.

Disneyland doesn't really have a "roller coaster".

californialand right next to disney, OTOH has a GREAT roller coaster. i love their roller coaster.

Disneyland doesn't really have a "roller coaster".

californialand right next to disney, OTOH has a GREAT roller coaster. i love their roller coaster.

they have ONE. its called "california screamin" and while its a nice roller coaster, its the only one there and its nothing compared to most of MM's roller coasters.

We aren't talking about bullets flying, just large groups who will force their way through lines, things like that. I've never had a problem there myself, but do know someone who has. My only complaint last month was that they didn't have all the water misters on in the lines (100+ heat), and too many rides under maitenence.(superman broke down twice, once with me on it, once with friends on it) They've always had problem with rides breaking down.

Hopefully someone will buy the company and turn things around.

Theres always Knotts berry farm also. They have better rides than disneyland, but are kind of small. I actually prefer going there cause it's cheaper and less crowded than disneyland, and it's not as far or ghetto as magic mtn.

so much fun, the rides are amazing. the little games are awesome. its soooo much fun
