I am taking my 2 year old nephew and his 8 month old sister to Disney World (or Orlando at least) for his birthday. My dad has a condo down there, so we will be staying there and I was just wondering if anyone has advice as to where to take him... where he can enjoy it and is old enough to do everything there. Also, where is a good place for adults to getaway? Anyone know how to get a good deal on purchasing multiple tickets (there are 8 adults) and we will be there for 7 days. Thanks for the advice!

www.wdwinfo.com has all the info you'll ever need, and then some. Great discussion forums there, also, with plenty of free and useful advice. My one recommendation is to have a plan, because it's too big and too complex to just stumble around lost, especially with two small children.

that is kind of young, they aren't even going to remember it

what can a 8 month old do at DW that they can't do inside a cardboard box in your living room?

it's not so much for the 8 month old baby... for my nephew. She gets to come along because what else are we going to do with her? :)

I would think small kids dig animals.. take them to animal kingdom

mgm is more for adults.

magic kingdom is always a must

epcot is pretty cool, but I dont think small kids will like it, if you have an extra day go here instead of mgm

In the summer it's hot as hell in Florida. We found that the best way to do it was to go the parks in the morning right when they open up, which involves getting up early. That way you also avoid the lines. See the stuff. Come back and sleep in the afternoon when it's hot, and usually rains. Then go back in the evening.

Trust me, 2yo is too young to enjoy WDW. My parents took me there when I was 5, some 15 odd years ago, and I don't remember it at all. We went back when I was 7, and I remember having a blast. IMO, WDW is targeted ages 6-13, not any younger (and yeah, I'm sure adults can have fun too :D)

As others have said, you should save Disney World until the youngest is at least five years old.

I agree. Wait until they're a little older.

Well, kids CAN enjoy disney at 2 years old -- at least a little. Many things are too scary, though. The best part is that they are free at that age. My wife and I used to have annual passes there (a couple of years ago), and my son was 2 then. Once those passes expired, we got Sea World passes. Then those expired, so now we have Universal passes.

Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom are the best. For the Magic Kingdon, the area with Minnie's house is not bad. The island with the forts is pretty good too (I forget the name).
They might also like the train ride around the park. But avoid even the supposedly "safe" rides like haunted mansion and Pirates. Those are still too scary.

For Animal Kingdom, stick to the animal stuff. The Lion King show is pretty cool too. Avoid the "Bugs Life" movie as there are some scary parts in there.
