More from the article: "Anika Noni Rose, the black actress who voices the character of Princess Tiana, has insisted that people should look beyond the colour of the character.
?Not only is she the first black princess, she?s the first American princess. We?ve never had an American princess,? said Rose."
You Disney fans... so they've actually never even had an American princess?
Can't remember any... But isn't that an oxymoron? American princess indeed...
Didn't Snow White and Cinderella become princesses?
Edit: and Arial was an American princess... but a Mermaid.
Edit: Belle?

No, there are plenty of black racists.
The only racist people left in this country that aren't so backwoods they haven't seen a television set OR a minority in 30 years are the minorities themselves who fling the race card every chance they get.

Are you saying that whites will buy just as much of this stuff as they would if the princess was white (which is what you seemed to be saying up to this point) or are you saying that black people will buy enough of this stuff to make up for the whites that won't (which is what this last post implies)?

They should just make a film where all the characters change colors and races every 3.4 seconds to ensure they all get equal screen time.

I have already been proven wrong earlier in the thread. though I wasn't saying they were, I was just guessing and throwing darts. The REAL point being is they were "white" is it not?

Didn't think native americans used the king/princess system which is feudal. Pocahontas was daughter of the Chief no?

No, there are plenty of black racists.
I've met more minority racists than White ones. Actually, I have never met an (openly) racist White person ever...

Black, White whatever. The movie will make billions due to clever marketing.
Do you think that little white girls are going to want a black princess doll or black princess sheets? Do you think many white parents or grandparents will buy a black princess doll or black princess sheets for their daughter or granddaughter?
I commend Disney for trying, though.

Disney is a Global company. Lots of Black folks in the world. What's wrong with a white child with a black doll. I've seen black girls with white dolls all the time when I was growing up, of course it was rare to find black dolls at that time.
I did not say there was anything wrong with it. There is the world we want and the world we actually live in. The fact is that there is still a lot of racism in this world. To deny that is being ignorant.
I just cannot see a black princess doll selling as well as a white princess doll. I wish and hope I am wrong, but I fear I am not.
