Was someone in this story black?

MotionMan

Yes, my wife. I'm white.

Black, White whatever. The movie will make billions due to clever marketing.

Do you think that little white girls are going to want a black princess doll or black princess sheets? Do you think many white parents or grandparents will buy a black princess doll or black princess sheets for their daughter or granddaughter?

I commend Disney for trying, though.

MotionMan

Disney is a Global company. Lots of Black folks in the world. What's wrong with a white child with a black doll. I've seen black girls with white dolls all the time when I was growing up, of course it was rare to find black dolls at that time.

I sense somebody is a bit racist in their lives, AND talking out of their ass.
My little girl (white) has several "dark skinned" dolls in her collection (Barbie, Cabbage patch, ones my wife made etc...) She has specifically asked for them since she has been about 3.

Just wait until they start arguing over what shade of black they choose to make the cartoon princess. No matter what they do Race Inc® will raise a ruckus, it's great for filling the coffers with fresh cash.

They should just make a film where all the characters change colors and races every 3.4 seconds to ensure they all get equal screen time.

Then I'm sure someone will complain about whatever color the characters appear as first. People need to grow the fuck up and stop holding everyone else back with their faux cries of offense at anything that could be remotely skewed as racism.

Kind of like how the handy-capped film bombed. Why do people think we have to support crappy films that are trying to further a cause? (and yes, I agree that the film will bomb)

I did not say there was anything wrong with it. There is the world we want and the world we actually live in. The fact is that there is still a lot of racism in this world. To deny that is being ignorant.

I just cannot see a black princess doll selling as well as a white princess doll. I wish and hope I am wrong, but I fear I am not.

ill leave it at that

No, there are plenty of black racists.

The only racist people left in this country that aren't so backwoods they haven't seen a television set OR a minority in 30 years are the minorities themselves who fling the race card every chance they get.

Given that the Prince is Brazillian, doesn't he still fall under the umbrella of "not-white"? I mean, he's got a tan to him for sure.

The princess' mother's name is Eudora.... wasn't that an email client back in the heyday of the 90s Internets?

Just the thought of a little girl saying that is hilarious!

So would my niece and goddaughter. And she's cute as heck!

 for future Mulatto-ismness

 for all mixed race kids, like mine, and most of my nieces and nephews. When everyone's checking 2-3 different boxes under 'race', race will matter less and less.

Or maybe they will finally do away with the ridiculous check boxes altogether.

It is no longer called handicapped... you need to use the term differently abled.
