This free English language [although the download site is mixed: Chinese/English] software
https://www.chuyu.me/
[The Firefox add-on "FlagFox" says the hosting site is: Montenegro/Russian Federation.]
"Dism++" is a new (to me) software that among other features is able to clean out obsolete WinSxS driver information. On several systems that I've run it on, an average of over 1 Gb of obsolete drivers has been cleared out.
Another feature: the ability to convert encrypted Microsoft .esd files to decrypted .iso files.
Edit: it's also ad free, nag free, trojan free & virus free.

I have to ask... But Why?

Space is cheap and I'd rather not want something messing with my Windows installation (especially if this something appears Chinese in origin).

I would just use the built-in DISM tool to manage the Windows Component Store. If you're using an application that requires a deprecated version of a component, it may fail. That's about the only bad thing that can happen.

Seemed "fishy" at first but I am wrong.

This is interesting:
http://appnee.com/dism/ (Some English description what it does.)
It does A LOT of cool things:

// Key Features //

  • Outdated driver clean up (based on Microsoft’s DriverPackageManagement API)
  • Outdated update clean up
  • Support converting WIM – ESD/SWM, ESD – ISO, ESD Decryption
  • Perfect WIM, WIMBoot support
  • WIM fast mount
  • Complete ESD support (including editing)
  • Thermal/Warm Windows backup/recovery (system downgrading)
  • Direct backup/restore without having to enter PE first (can be regarded as a better alternative tool of Ghost)
  • Complete update firmware support
  • System repair support
  • BCD boot repair
  • … and more
Edit: this is *extremely* useful, it has TONS of features, the above doesn't even touch what it can do

System backup/restore, startup manager, cleanup, app manager, windows update manager, system optimizers, feature manager, ISO creator, startup repair etc...
