Disks in RAID-5 won't go to sleep (790GX)

Anybody knows how to make them?
Mobo is Gigabyte GA-MA790GPT-UD3H, running on Win 7 HP 32 bit.

I have disks set to go to sleep after 5 minutes.

The ones in the RAID array don't want to obey this setting. Is there a separate utility that would put them to sleep? I know Windows might have a problem since they aren't represented as standard ATAPI disks to the system.

Dam I hate MS for not allowing SW RAID5 in non-server OS versions.

Anybody?
Is there really no power management for onboard RAID arrays?

No, it's secondary for mass storage only.
Boot is Intel X-25M.

The array really isn't used much and would benefit from being off a lot.

Hmm.. I thought RAID5 is only possible for the boot volume on both SB750 and ICHxR. Are you using an auxiliary controller (JMicron, Marvell, or.. G-SATA) for C: drive?

Not really.

I have ports 1-4 reserved and used for RAID5 volume (only 3 disks / ports)
Ports 5 and 6 are set to IDE mode in BIOS.
5 == Intel X25-M
6 == SATA DVD RW

I have installed Win7 with only 5 and 6 connected.
Later I connected the RAID array as well and stuff works like it's supposed to.

It's only that the RAIDed drives won't go to sleep.

99.99999% of RAID controllers don't do power management. It used to be that to get power management with RAID, you had to spend BIG BIG TURKEYS. However, some of Adaptec's newer, lower-priced cards (as low as $250) do support it. AFAIK, that's the only way you will get RAID with power management but without TURKEYS.

Ya i didnt think raid had Power management, unless its bios settings or software for a seperate card. if it was managed by windows it should follow the power management options

I spent $3k on an adaptec 52445 and even that doesn't support disk spindown when I got it. It was finally implemented a few months back via a firmware update. I can't find anything that states disk spindown is an option with RAID on the SB750 or SB700 The SB750 is basically the SB700 with RAID5 support, but I couldn't find anything that would lead me to believe either would support spindown.

This is sad news to me indeed.
Those disks need to work like 1% of entire uptime and due to some stupid design decision they won't spin down.
Just great! :(
