DiskFresh - What this application is for exactly?

I came across this application, DiskFresh, while reading one of the tech magazine. The magazine mentioned that if you have data stored on HDD that you did not access for a while, it can 'fade away'. I don't know what the heck that is supposed to mean because I have HDDs, I attached after 3 to 4 years when I needed and did not find any data loss.

Anybody has any idea what this application does and if one should really use it?

If your hard drive is stored in a place with very high EMI or magnetic fields, then I suppose it's possible for the data stored on the magnetic discs to be degraded or destroyed. But for the vast majority of people it's simply not an issue.
