diskeeper on SQL server and Exchange servers?

is it ok to run diskeeper on SQL and Exchange volumes? i know they have their own utils to defrag/optimize their databases, but otherwise i didnt know if a 3rd party tool is advisable to run. Thanks

The only effective way is off-line defragmentation and database shrinking.

Running defrag on production systems with live DBs are useless because any I/O would cause them to not do anything with the file fragments.

gotcha.. ill just have defrag going on non database drives.

Why are you running diskkeeper on these servers anyways? You shouldnt need to regularily do any defragmentation of them.

im not running diskeeper on them. i have some licenses lying around i thought i could use.
