Disk write error

Lately my computer will give me disk write error's - it says it can't write to drive c (Main hard drive) I do have a 2nd hard drive. When it happens I get blue screen and computer will lock up. sometimes it will clear up if I let it sit but when i restart the computer it will do scandisk on c and surface scan without any problems showing up. I have almost everything off the drive with about 2.5 gb used and 7.5 free. I have run scandisk and defrag also.

If anyone has any idea on this let me know.

Win98
abit bx6(rev2) motherboard
slot 1 p3 700 slightly overclocked at 112 volts
256 mb memory
2 hard drives
dvd
cdrw
soundblaster soundcard
ati radeon64

It may be some applications that you are running.
Or it may be signs that the hard-disk are going.
