Disk Recovery Services

I have a maxtor 60GB Diamond Max Plus 9 that crapped out about 10 months ago. I planned on doing the freezer trick on it, so stashed it in the freezer and forgot about it..lol. I recently moved and rediscovered the disk and remembered that it has some stuff I'd really like to keep on it. I just tried it again and still no worky. The drive plays some sort of an alarmish song when I try to boot and renders the ide interface its connected to useless.

I tried SpinRite but it won't recognize the disk along with the bios. I'm going to try freezing it again tonite and installing it cold to see if that could possibly matter. I've heard the drive recovery services are a lot cheaper now and might be able to save some stuff. Do you have any experience or suggestions with those types of services?

Thanks!

Here's 2 more.

There's no guarantee that these could get anything from your maxtor.

Since I now use mobile racks, copying, backing-up or whatever is easier now. Copying and pasting is a breeze.

Since HDDs are cheap, I run clones of all my systems now. I have a clone for 2 desktops and my laptop. I got some great deals on computer pulls and bought as many as I could afford.

Good luck on your data recovery.
