Disk Performance in W2K on k7s5a

Hi,

I was just working on a W98 machine, which was not as powerful as mine, and the installs on that thing were a lot faster! On my W2k machine, installs tend to pause at the "Loading Install Shield" stuff, they pause when the blue bar is all the way at the end. Also the hard disk performance is extremely sluggish compared to the W98 machine. While I don't really notice it while browsing directories and that sort of thing, its very noticeable during installs. I have the ECS k7s5a, I downloaded the 1.07 drivers and flashed to the latest bios etc etc, does anyone know any fixes for this? It says my drive is in PIO mode if that helps. But strangely, on the W98 machine I was testing DMA was disabled and the thing was still ripping through the installs.

Thanks for any help,
Tom

there is a known remedy to u'r problem..i think it was a new bios or maybe it was a Wink2k patch in sp2 or an additional patch on M$'s website. Btw, check your dream for additional help.
