I just installed Fedora 9 on an older server I had. There is 2 IDE drives and 2 Sata drives. I think the issue is, the IDE drives come after sata, so it wants to boot off the sata, but those are for the raid. So when the system boots up I get the grub menu but as soon as I select the first option or let it go through it says disk not found. Is there a way I can make this work or am I forced to use the sata drive as the boot drive?

Some motherboards have an IDE emulation setting for SATA drives. If you MB has it, turn it on and see if it works.

Hmm thought I had that turned on but aparantly not. I changed it but same error. Do I need to reinstall after doing that change?

The error I get is:

Well turned out I had to reinstall. Works now. So guess linux wont work if the controller is set to raid then. I'll be sure to check that before, next time.

No, the problem was GRUB and your BIOS. Most likely there was no BIOS access to the drives in RAID mode.
