Disk not accessible. Please help

Hi,

I let someone use my computer yesterday then last night it suddenly restarted.

At the boot up screen, it says "disk failure" or cannot access disk

So I took out that hard drive and put it on my other computer as a slave to back up some files.

That drive shows in as Local Disk D and Local Disk E

But when I try to access it, it say "the disk in drive D is not formatted"

I can't open it.

Please help.

Can it be a virus?

Here are the specs:

Win Xp Pro
OS Hard Drive SATA
Slave HDD ATA

Thanks

Please help.

I went out and bought an external enclosure.

The computer detects the hard drive and shows up in my computer but cannot access it.

I tried the free data recovery PCinspector but its not working.

Should I format it and try the recovery again because some software claims that they can still recover formatted harddrives?

Thanks

Put it back in the original system and boot from a knoppix live cd to see if you can access it from there ... I would not format it ...

Thanks!

I will try that after I am doing this data recovery.

Using EasyRecovery Professional right now and its still scanning after 5 hours. LOL

Remaining time 92 hours?

It seems like its picking up some data but its not showing me until its done yet.

Fingers crossed
