Disk Boot Failure??

Trying to get my HD setup and getting this error msg. "Disk Boot Failure, Insert System disk and press enter". Floppy is recognized by BIOS as is HD. However won't boot to any disks. I've tried 3. Checked wires. All look good.. Any ideas??

thanks 🙂

Is this the only drive in the system? If so, did you partition and format the hard drive yet? If not, make sure your bios is set to boot to floppy first and boot to a Win98 startup disk. Then partition and format the drive. If it has been partitioned and formatted, boot to a Win98 startup disk and type the following:

FDISK /MBR

Then type:

SYS C:

Hopefully this will take care of your problem.

jumper is set correctly... and in BIOS the HD is primary master... my CDRW will go secondary master as soon as I get the OS installed correctly...

no, i'm trying to partition and format it... but the system won't boot to my win95/98 startup disk. The disk is good, I checked it w/ another PC..

OS is soon to be win2000 hopefully 🙂

Ok, I see now. The boot floppy is not recognized.

Try inserting the boot floppy a few times. I have a floppy that is not recognized all the time. Just keep trying the floppy if you are sure it is ok.

no dice... I just tried two more startup disks... It seems weird to me that the BIOS detects the floppy yet it doesn't work. I wish I had a spare sitting around to test it...

I know you said you've tried another floppy but when I first built my PC I had the same problem. I had three bad floppies, so if you can get another one. If the floppies light is always on even without a disk then your cable is inserted backwards. Give it a try, you never know.

I have the same problem on ABIT BX133 RAID Motherboard.. I have tried 3 floppys and different cables, and nothig helped...

I have managed to boot the system from CDrom and installed the system, Floppy drive WORKS in windows , but I still can not boot from it!

..Im also dont know what to do anymore!

..the main problem is that I can not Flash my bios! ..since I can not boot from Floppy drive.

Please help anyone!
