dishwashers

I used mine for the first time ever today. Soap suds started coming out cause I put detergent in both boxes when I did a simple quick wash (20 mins). Ooops. But hey, the dishes are clean and I don't have to stand there and wash them for 30 minutes.

I can't imagine putting it into normal wash mode where it'll take 90mins. WTF is up with that ?!

Do you live with technology or are you a hand-washer ?

Did you put dishwashing liquid in like Dawn or Ivory? Or detergent like Cascade or Palmolive?

It was Ajax and it specified dishwasher / hand lotion on the label. It's not "automatic dishwashing liquid" as per instructions, but it's still for dishes. Did I really put too much or was it just cause it wasn't the "automatic" stuff ?

You CANOT use dishwashing detergent in a dishwasher.
It makes too many suds, and will over flow your washer.
Automatic Dishwashing stuff makes almost no suds.

Sure makes me wish I posted this before this afternoon then. 😉

Hah! Because I am a consumer whore/sheep, I did not make the same mistake! But now I can justify it! 😀

*edit*
btw, how can you take a full half an hour to wash the dishes? 😕

I don't really see how it 'wastes' water. Since in any well designed water system, the used water is returned, treated to a water body somehere. The only problem is that soap is added to the water, but that technically isnt 'wasteing' water. Its just poluting it, or de-vaulating it..

I am pretty anal so I get every last spot on the dishes... and drying time too. Point is, it's 30 minutes out of my life. :| My fiancee cooks and after 1 meal, you can't see the bottom of the sink. I think her recipes call for "as many dishes, pots, and pans as possible"...

I finally got sick of it (after a year) and tried the thing out today. 🙂

Right. And today's dishwashers use very little water. The water doesn't run through it continuously, they fill up and then recirculate the water.

I'm a user. Who cares if it takes longer than washing by hand? You don't have to wait there for it to finish.
